"Don't Feed the Animals"
The springtime or fall are the only two times you can go to the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans and not die of a heatstroke. So before our French Quarter Festivities started, we decided to take a trip with DeeDee and Miss Stacy and two of her three boys. It was a beautiful, sunny day, with a cool breeze blowing; we couldn't have hoped for better weather. Miss Stacy had her wagon and Shelby was happy to stroll in her stroller. We got to see all the zoo classics: elephants, white tigers, an assortment of primates, including a little baby orangutan that was too cute for words. Shelby, you really liked watching them swing from tree to tree. You boys loved palling around together; you really miss them. Y'all had a blast scrambling around on this old, oak tree that had sprawling low branches that beckoned to be climbed on. We got up close and personal with the majestic giraffes and watched the zookeepers toss chicken parts to the hungry alligators. We hit the carousel on our way out, and even got the opportunity to pet the boa constrictor. It was a wonderful way to spend the day with old friends.
